As the first proper post on this blog, I want to share a quick case study – of why the approach to life matters – based on my experience.
As for now, I have been writing for a long time. I published my first article in June 2020, at this point, I have around 40 different articles in my portfolio. I started writing for Dzone and then switched to Medium but with little success.
For various reasons, I started thinking about setting up my blog around two years ago. You may ask if I was thinking about this idea for so long, why do I share it only now?
Well, here comes all the overthinking. My internal conversation was something akin to the points below:
- I do not know how.
- I will write it myself, but it will take time.
- How do I get a custom domain?
- What is this WordPress thing?
- How does it work?
- I will pay someone – who?, how to find?, not enough money!!
- Hosting providers, who?, where?, what?, more money!!
- Problems, problems, problems, problems
A few months ago I got “angry” and told myself – that’s enough. Two or four hours later – I do not remember correctly I ended up around 5 AM. I had my custom domain – pasksoftware.com – and a complete WordPress setup.

Here comes the real banger: If I had acted instead of spending all that time thinking about “useless” problems, I would have had this blog for two years already. Both in software and in real life, overthinking – or overengineering in the case of software – holds you down and stops your growth.
Do not overthink, JUST ACT.
- Have an Idea? -> Validate it and get feedback.
- Have an article? -> Go and publish it.
Act and see what the future will bring.
Focus on being yourself, find your approach/style, and remember life is not a sprint it’s a marathon. Stay consistent and think about long-term goals. Care about the feedback, but do not get overwhelmed. Listen, pick up the important and relevant points, then adapt, improve, and be better.
Long story short
Staying consistent against the odds and shortening the feedback loop is a way to thrive.
Overthinking IS NOT.
